Well, with the first frost of the year here, and some high water in our river systems, don’t be afraid to move around to find some chrome coho in our local rivers. We have been on the Snohomish River System and will continue to be there as we are having one of the better seasons in a long time with limits of coho the norm. Chum are also definitely showing up in our catches (must be released) as well….

Last year we got our first winter-run steelhead Nov 15 so it’s a very fun time of year to be out on the river. If you want to get out in a heated boat, give a call. Prime dates still available.

The two new Homewater Bass rods are incredible!

They have the ability to do more than any rod I have ever used. What I used to believe was a light rod now feels like a ton of bricks. After fishing all day with my light and sensitive Fetha Styx rods, I pulled out what used to be my lightest rod. I was amazed at how much heavier it felt!

At Guntersville the two rods I have, a 6’10″ M and a 7’2″ MH were able to handle every type of cover I fished. This included everything from cranking deep ledges, fishing thick, shallow grass, throwing a frog, jigs, and texas rigs. These rods can do it all!

It was a very slow week at Guntersville, but I couldn’t have caught any of the fish I did without the sensitivity of these rods and the ability to fish with these rods all day because of their lightness. I can’t wait to get to my tournament tonight and I am excited to start spreading the word to those anglers about how great these rods really are!

Good Luck Fishing! – Sam Carris

While the 2011 Bassmaster Elite Series wrapped up just months ago, it’s not too early to focus on the 2012 edition of the competition, for which Andy Montgomery qualified by finishing 41st in the Angler of the Year standings for 2011. The top 73 in the AoY standings, plus those anglers who have won an Elite Series tournament qualify. See the entire qualifying structure here. The 2012 Elite Series schedule has been released and can be viewed here.

Angler’s Channel has a two-part interview series with Andy Montgomery where he re-caps his first season competing on the Bassmaster Elite Series:

Which event are you most looking forward to on the 2012 schedule? Do you feel Montgomery’s first year will be a spring-board to a successful second year on the tour, or will he have his work cut out to maintain strong results against the experienced field?

The fish were biting topwater which is always the best. I made my 722 my topwater rod while out on the water and I am glad I did. It was the best topwater rod I have ever used!!! I caught about 20 fish in two days all on that one rod. I managed to catch several nice fish and missed two bass that were about four pounds each. I am definitely dedicated or just dumb to go fishing in a tropical storm, but I love fishing enough to do that!

August 26th through the 27th the Fetha Styx team, Captained by our very own Bill Boyce, will be participating in the Washington Tuna Classic. Fetha Styx is also entering two custom Fishing Rods in the Classics giveaway. The greatest thing about this tournament, is it’s support of multiple charities. All the Tuna caught in the tournament will go to local food banks, while donations will be made to the Wounded Warriors and the Disabled American Veterans Associations. Such a cool tournament, we’re looking forward to it!

A proud University of Washington Alumni came into our Customs shop and wanted to know how he could support the Huskies on the water. Nick Frye, being the creative master mind that he is, put together a beautiful gold and purple rod. Nick painted the blank purple and used gold thread for the wrapping. He also found purple and gold guides to match the aesthetic of the entire rod. Now our UW Alumni can happily support his team on AND off the water. Go Huskies!
