Favorite local waters to fish: Wenatchee Rivers system

How long have you been on with Fetha Styx? Seven or eight months is all — I am the new kid.

How long have you been a guide? On and off a couple years.

Describe yourself in 10 words or less: Single father of three with fishing issues.

A little bio/blurb about yourself (tell us your history): I grew up in Lynnwood were I fished in the sound with my dad since I was six or seven, about four or five days a week for years then I discovered steelhead on the Skykomish at about age 12 and it was all over from there. I have been very lucky to have the opportunity to fish all over the state and some in Oregon also. Now I am here in Wenatchee chasing steelhead on Wenatchee River and also rivers around North Central WA, Methow, Okanogan, Icicle River and other secret spots. I am really enjoying helping other people learn how to catch steelhead and salmon — truly a dream job.

Rod of choice? Steelhead is the Fetha Styx float rod in 10’6″ and salmon is the 9′ 6″ backbounce CCA/Fetha Styx series for the North West (NW Premier Guide, Salmon and Steelhead Journal gives the rod “extremely high” marks).

Saltwater vs. Freshwater? Freshwater.

Best fishing experience with a Fetha Styx rod? Landing over 20 steelhead in two days on the Okanogan River.

Favorite fish species? Steelhead and salmon.

Favorite lure? Wow, that’s tough. Too many choices, but jig and bobber for steelhead, and quickfish for salmon just ’cause we lit them up with quickies today!

What’s your most productive technique for your fish of choice? Jig and bobber for steelhead, backbounce and plugs for salmon.

What have you been up to lately? It’s spring, so I am fishing the Icicle River right now for spring chinook, but always looking forward to steelhead.

Any personal/professional tidbit (or content) that you would want readers to know about you? I am an outside-the-box thinker, always looking for the perfect lure.
