We are about a week into our Coho season up here on the Skagit, and things are looking very promising. Even with the record breaking dry spell we’ve had, we still have good numbers of fishable Coho on the Skagit. Nick Petosa walks us through his process for finding Coho on the Skagit River.

The rain dance sure did work this time! Starting in a day or two, and once the rivers drop back into shape, the 2011 coho season should be in full force! Then I’m off to the Snake River to chase around feisty summer-run steelhead and up-river bright chinook salmon! Be sure to catch Bonner’s full report….

It’s almost August and the fishing is GREAT all over Washington State. The Ocean is kicking out fish … the Columbia river from the mouth all the way to Rufus Woods is giving up chromer fish … and the rivers, lakes and reservoirs are all hitting for bass, walleye, trout, steelhead and even panfish … basically it’s ON like Kong!

Well, the last day of the trip was just Kim and I fishing with John, our host. We ended up fishing a short day from 6 a.m. to noon, but got two really nice king’s in the 20 lb. range. It was almost a blessing in disguise after we headed to the fish processing and collected the rest of our bounty before heading home. The total catch was a whopping 185.3 pounds, just in fillets for the flight back! WOW…
