Andy Montgomery and Bink Desaro were on hand not only to give Ragan some much-needed tips about fishing, but to promote the fact that Fetha Styx Fishing Rods are solidly behind NASCAR’s charitable efforts. For every fishing rod the company sells, Fetha Styx donates $10 to the NASCAR Foundation.

February 18, 2011 —  Bink Desaro and the Fetha Styx crew went to the Hot Rods and Reels Daytona Charity Fishing Tournament held in the Daytona Speedway infield. Hot Rods and Reels is a yearly tournament where professional bass fishermen and professional NASCAR drivers partner to catch the biggest fish AND raise money for the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, a foundation dedicated to the awareness, prevention, support and, ultimately, a cure for paralysis.

The tournament consisted of 20 boats, each with a NASCAR driver and a guide. The Fetha Styx NASCAR series of rods were fished on every boat, and the drivers were loving them!  An all-around great time, Bink was interviewed for Inside NASCAR about the NASCAR fishing rods.

The biggest success story of the day was the donation of a customized, Orlando Magic-themed wheelchair to 11-year-old Kyle Darroch, who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, courtesy of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation.

A special thanks goes out to Heather Greene, Janet Bolin and Adam D’Andrea who were all fabulous. We’d also like to thank Darrell Gwynn, founder of The Darrell Gwynn Foundation, for putting on such a wonderful tournament. As well as the Outdoor Channel, their show “Hot Rods and Reels” where the tournament will air soon, and NASCAR Media. It was an awesome tournament for everyone involved and we’re honored to have been a part of it!

Mark’s Outdoors was a very successful event! What a wonderful ‘candy store’ for any outdoorsman! From the time that it opened on Friday morning, Mark’s Outdoors had a full parking lot. And to hear the employees talk – that was a slow day! Wow!

Gina and Derek from Fetha Styx were there, as well as our Bass pro’s Bink Desaro and Andy Montgomery. Customers were blown away by our new Homewater fishing rods. And even though it’s hunting season down in the South, a follow up call to Mark’s verified that the fishing rods are already starting to fly off of the racks!

We raffled off Talledaga tickets, barbecued hotdogs for the customers, meet many people and talked about the products. We had games set up for the kiddos where they could win prizes. All in all – a very successful event!

The Fetha Styx crew has been busy the last few weeks flying around the country to show off our latest Homewater and NASCAR fishing rods. We are proud to partner up with Mark’s Outdoors in Birmingham, AL for an exciting event on Friday October, 29th (8:00 am to 6:00 pm) to kick off a great weekend at Talladega for the NASCAR AMP Energy Juice 500 on Sunday October, 31st!

Come see Mark’s outdoors beautiful new expanded space with Gina and Derek representing Fetha Styx along with our Bass pro team members Bink Desaro and Andy Montgomery. Bink and Andy will be available to provide you with product demos, casting demos and maybe even a few lessons if you ask nicely.

We will have Pat Patterson from Sirius XM radio on hand and breaking out the BBQ along with giving away some great prizes throughout the day. We are happy to say that we will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a NASCAR bass fishing rod with all the proceeds going to the great people at the American Cancer Society.  It’s going to be a great day, so make sure to stop on down and see the latest fishing rods from Fetha Styx!
