It’s almost August and the fishing is GREAT all over Washington State. The Ocean is kicking out fish … the Columbia river from the mouth all the way to Rufus Woods is giving up chromer fish … and the rivers, lakes and reservoirs are all hitting for bass, walleye, trout, steelhead and even panfish … basically it’s ON like Kong!
Well, the last day of the trip was just Kim and I fishing with John, our host. We ended up fishing a short day from 6 a.m. to noon, but got two really nice king’s in the 20 lb. range. It was almost a blessing in disguise after we headed to the fish processing and collected the rest of our bounty before heading home. The total catch was a whopping 185.3 pounds, just in fillets for the flight back! WOW…
So we only have 22 days left in this GREAT steelhead season and fishing is as good as it has been all year! All year we have battled with fluctuating river levels and crazy weather, but here at the end …
Fishing has been excellent the past month! Sockeye fishing started down here in Wenatchee and until recently was very good, now it continues to be good in the Brewster Pool area — lots of 10-plus fish days. Great for kids …
The most difficult part of this time of year is choosing where to go. With so much available to us now, sometimes it isn’t until the night before when we decide where to point the truck in the morning.
